London is your main hub for Christmas lights and shopping action. Embark on an enchanting trail from Covent Garden to marvel at the handpicked, traditionally dressed Christmas tree, and over to Carnaby Street where the lights display gets quirkier every year. For a hidden treat, extend your trip to South Molton Street where our extraordinary tale began in 1973. Finish your festive path on bustling Oxford Street (Tuesday 6th November) for the grandest lights switch-on, supported by pop-up performances by some of the UK's most impressive musical talent.

In London, Christmas at Kew (22nd November 2018 to 5th January 2019) will captivate adult and child alike. Now in its sixth year, this dazzling show of lights comprises over a million pea-lights and laser beams all under Kew Garden’s enchanting natural canopy. Highly anticipated amongst this year's amazing displays are the Moonlit Woods and glowing boats bobbing on the pond. However, nothing can outshine Kew's famous conservatory in glowing festive form.

Rivalling this, The Lanterns at Chester Zoo (23rd November to 23rd December 2018) is the ultimate way to countdown to Christmas in the north. Little ones will marvel at the animal shaped lanterns, which this year features past favourites. The nine enthralling spaces include an Enchanted Woodland festooned with flora and fauna and a more traditional Northern Lights theme. Along the way, there’s also the opportunity to enjoy refreshments in the Christmas Food Market and The Oakfield pub.
