Our Iconic Bottle Through Time

For our pioneering founders, looking after the earth was a way of life. To this day, we’ve stayed loyal to their ethos, especially when it comes to environmentally-friendly brand packaging. Read on to see how our bottle developed through time, as we’ve used the years to learn about staying as kind to you and the world as possible.

Made In England, Made By Hand

In the basement of the original South Molton salon, our founders hand-mixed their own products and applied the labels on the bottles by hand with meticulous care. Their first Botanical Hair Care collection was housed in apothecary, ‘boston-round’ glass bottles – the shape we still keep alive today and which has achieved iconic status. As co-founder Caroline Burstein fondly reminisces, ‘‘we were always very mindful of every little detail; from what goes into the product itself, to the packaging and the service.”

Our ‘Keep Forever’ Collection

As part of our Refillable collection, our reusable glass bottle is a proud evolution of our roots. It’s made from exquisite, thick-cut glass that’s also recyclable – although you’d never want to part with it – but replenish it instead with our Hand & Body Refill Pouches. To make one Refill, we’ve used 63% less plastic compared to our standard bottles.*

*Standard bottles refers to a total of 1 x 300ml and 1 x 100ml bottles

Circularity In Mind

Our forward-thinking founders always knew about the growing impact of plastic. Now, our Senior Packaging Technologist, Sue Berry, explains, ‘‘we wanted to go back to our roots and carry on being sustainable. Our bottle is our iconic piece, so this was the obvious place to start when it came to changing the plastic we use.’’ To help reduce virgin materials, they’re currently made from 50% recycled PET. Plus, through our ‘Return. Recycle. Reward.' scheme, you can also recycle our bottles fully, caps and pumps included, in all our stores in the UK and Ireland. We have a 10% off reward as our ‘thank you’ for doing your part and helping us look after the planet for the next generation.

One-Of-A-Kind Craftmanship

Molton Brown packaging always told a unique story; our founding family collaborated with an artistic range of creatives for their collections – this diverse nature is reflected in our contemporary Eau de Parfum and Toilette bottles. Each detail and colourway is an homage to their originality, from the one-of-a-kind resin caps to the debossed, recyclable boxes. You can also refill the fragrance at selected stores in the UK and keep treasuring your beautiful bottle.

Gift Responsibly

Like our glass bottles, our gift boxes are carefully designed in-house for your loved ones to cherish forever. You can upcycle them into a home for your keepsakes or as a basis for a beautiful hamper. But, if you do need say goodbye to these boxes, they’re made from recycled and recyclable material where possible.
